The focal point of our property is the large turquoise, clear, oval swimming pool; beautifully designed with a section especially for youngsters. The wide pool deck is made from the finest Tanga Stone and there is a private sunbathing area overlooking the Indian Ocean – speckled by the cooling shade of Neem trees.
Our property is designed to suite all ages, although our steep entrance makes is unsuitable for the physically challenged.
From reception you have a bird’s eye view across the property including the dining area and Art Gallery cum lounge; which offers Wi-Fi internet and a cozy corner to relax whilst looking at Sadru’s fine collection of local art or surfing net.
All the rooms circle the central law and pool. Scattered across the elephant grass are Cyrus trees and tropical plants, which offer dappled shade and look beautiful. The fresh limes produced al complement the delicious variety of seafood served. There is a small boutique with a handpicked items and Lily’s Bar on the pontilla, which is the perfect place to be when you need a break from the sun. The view is like a theatre plan unwinding before you and a glimpse into the local culture, whilst a cool breeze washed over you. Ngalawa dhows float by and return with their catch, whilst children search the shallows for fishing bait.
Our extensive, quiet beach is ideal for long walks, a brisk jog or beach volleyball and a stroll up to the local fishing market with its beautiful dhows and shallow waters. Stepped in charm and local clture, it is a must. The ebb and flow of tide is seasonal and the waters are war. There are also no sea urchins in our waters.
‘Hi Tea’ is served on the Pontiall and refreshments at Lily’s Bar include exquisite fruits juices freshly created in the blender. Loungers with unique tables offer a choice of games etched into the wonder surface, ranging from drafts, chess, Boa (a local Arabic game) and scrabble. It is the perfect place to chill, enjoy sundowners and cocktails, and, on occasion, watch a live band and world-renowned local cultural groups perform especially for you.
Enjoy a professional massage in our little pallor cabin set on a rocky overhang, and in tranquillity gaze over the Indian Ocean through its open shutters from without your private sanctuary.

For the adventurous and intrigued, there is a lot to do and explore in Zanzibar, and Ngalawa Beach Village is the perfect stepping stone from which to venture. Upon arrival we will pass on to you a list of “Most Popular Things To Do”. We can organize and recommend excursions of your preference.
Neighbouring JoZani-Chwaka Bay National Park is home to the rare Red Colobus monkey found nowhere else in the world. This dense and magical forest is also surrounded by myths and wonderful stories, such as tigers realised by past Sultans and visiting Emperors. Exploring the forest is a beautiful way to spend the day and connect with nature.
A spice tour can be arranged giving you the opportunity to touch, taste and smell all the wonderful herbs, spices and exotic fruits that helped put Zanzibar on the map centuries ago.
Zanzibar’s Old Stone is probably one of the most vivid, living history books in existence. Walking down the narrow, cobbled streets full of tiny shops and traders, it is swept up in the sound of bartering and surrounded by colour – just as it was a hundred years ago. Everywhere you turn there is a history story waiting for you to hear, marvellous palaces preserved for you to visit bustling markets and reflections of old times and adventures. Escorted into Stone Town by our trusted guide is a tour you don’t want to miss.
No visit to Zanzibar is complete without sailing on a dhow and we support an organization that combines this with a super day out, snorkelling in crystal clear waters and enjoying a seafood in feast on a deserted island. Chwaka Bay Fishing Village is only a walk away; down the beach and is a charming window into the culture and way of life along the Zanzibari coast.
Chwake Bay itself supports the larges swathe of mangrove forest on Zanzibar and forms a significant part of JoZani-Chwaka Bay National Park, Zanzibar’s only national park. The government is currently working as a conservation area and income-generating ecotourism project. Some tours to explore the mangroves are possible, and do make an interesting diversion.
For those of us who love a good read, we have a Reading Garden offering natural shade where the call and songs of tropical birds will keep you company. Or you can jump in the hammock with your partner and get carried away with your read.
