Climate and When To Go

Situated close to the equator, Zanzibar has a typical tropical climate with hot and humid conditions being prevalent for most of the year. Cooling sea breezes on the north and east coasts help to keep the temperature down.

It is recommended to not travel between April and May as the island can experience long rains during this time. The rest of the year, however, has great summer conditions with temperatures averaging around 28°C.
