This is monument is the oldest historical structure on the island and was built as the foremost burial site immediately after the French colonized this country. Some of the individuals buried here include Charles Dorothée Savy who was a nine-foot-tall giant and Jean-Francois Hodoul who was a corsair. Savy was poisoned by his family because they were frightened of how tall he was!

Anse Royale
