The Teak Elephant is Shandrani's Thai restaurant presided over by a talented Thai chef. The small venue caters for 50 guests at a time and is reserved for guests from 12 years only, making it one of the hotel's most exclusive venues for dinner.
Opening onto Shandrani's 9-hole golf course, the Teak Elephant is adjacent to Le Sirius restaurant and features a separate entrance guarded by Asian-style statues.
The restaurant itself is protected from view by a large screen of bamboo.

We had an absolutely fabulous time. Our room was 375 (on the 1st floor). Nice secluded balcony with a great view of “our beach” – and without anyone looking in on us while they walk past.
The room was a great size – kids beds were where the “lounge” would be. The kid’s club was also fantastic – we only put the kids in on the Monday afternoon (while we had a massage) and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The activities are nice and structured, but also fun and relaxed. Very friendly staff too. We did send the kids one evening so we could have our anniversary dinner and they had done a singing competition!
Our anniversary dinner was on the Wednesday evening – we chose Le Sirius again – such a lovely restaurant! The massage we had was the anniversary gift from the hotel – we could swop the bottle of champagne for a 30min back, neck and shoulder massage for two people or for 50% discount on an hour long Swedish massage for two people – so we chose that option. I thought it was a great idea that the hotel gave us an alternative to the champagne.
We were really impressed with the hotel, all the facilities, service etc. etc. If we were to go back to Mauritius, we would certainly go to Shandrani again – nothing was lacking in any aspect of our stay – we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the holiday.
Shandrani Resort is really everything that we expected and more. One thing that stood out above all the other good things is the cleanliness of the entire resort from the gardens, rooms, public toilets and restaurants were spotless. Beautiful clean blue swimming pools, main area as well as the one near the Sirius Bar.
Our room was Deluxe room ground floor nr 300 and it was spacious, and close to the beach. It was also in the more quiet part of the resort, just like we asked for when we made the booking. The room and bathroom had everything one could ask for. Both very spacious. Slippers, gowns, ironing board and iron, umbrella were provided. Bigger TV than what we are used to finding at resorts/hotels in SA. The bed was the most comfortable bed that we’ve ever slept on in a resort/hotel. The service at the rooms was excellent and the luxury of a clean bath towel and beach towel everyday was greatly appreciated.
All the staff at Shandrani are very professional and friendly, from porters, reception, waiters, cleaners, activities guys and general maintenance staff always greeted with a smile.
The grounds at the resort are very large and we always managed to find a spot on one of the beaches that was more private to relax at and enjoy the sun.
We had most of our meals at the main buffet restaurant and we found that the food were always fresh and tasteful, and such a big variety. Ee will definitely recommend this resort to our friends and family.
