Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Diners Club Credit Cards are also widely accepted and Travellers Cheques are accepted in most hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and shops.

It is illegal to leave the country with more than 2000 rupees, so keep all your currency exchange receipts for re-exchange on departure.
